Responsibility
Responsibility

As therapists, we hold a position of trust.

During a therapy session we are invited into the life of the client and may be witness to the baring of their souls.

I do not think this description is overly dramatic.

I am often humbled by the things I see and hear during my time with clients.

We are paid to help them in the best way that we can.

To continue to treat clients when we know we are neglecting our own development is to ignore our responsibility to them, and as importantly, to ourselves!

This does not mean that we have to spend every waking hour involved in our own issues- far from it!

Healing is an organic process with an intelligence and timetable of its own.

We are not meant to bounce around in our therapy rooms, as shining examples of perfectly healed beings!

But it makes sense that we are there to demonstrate that life is not to be taken for granted, and that our life force deserves every respect that we can afford it.
